Unhappy Please help!

I have a common water snake. I read in another post that you shouldn't feed minnows to garter or ribbon snakes, because of they are oily fish. Is this true for common water snakes? Please any advice will be appreciated as right now my snake's diet consists primarily of minnows.
Thanks,
Kelcie

I have never heard of not being able to feed a water snake minnows. They eat them in the wild (along with frogs, small rodents, and anything else they can find).

I would definitely stay away from minnows. Not only are they greasy, they're also parasitic. IF you decide to feed your water fish, I'd go to the pet store, and buy feeder fish there, and/or try converting to mice.

Feeding it comet gold fish from a pet store is no dougt the way to go unless u have tons of small frogs on hand,i had a wild caught garter snake for over 6 years and it would eat nothing but goldfish and frogs.u have a petsmart near you? they have healthy and available comets, though only thing is that fish eating snakes need some vitamin b every once in a while, this often can come in a dropper u drip in their water bowl, but NOT wild goldfish are fine
