wheezing snake
hi guys, my older snake, whom has never come in contact with new snake, has a wheeze, he is active, but has not feed in about 10 days, I even took all my white rats to pet store and traded for some brown rats, cause he usually will not eat a white rat, and even offered him a chick..he likes them too. He seems otherwise fine, well hydrated, not going to shed anytime soon. There is no real reptile vet around can probley talk to the breeder I got my new snake from , Just searching for Ideas..He did wheeze when I first got him but he got over it when I improved his living conditions. now he is in a large tank I built for him close to a 55 gall. he has large water bowl, humidity is about 70%, temp 95 - 80 cool side. Aspen bedding, which he has been on for several month, I clean the poo and all out as soon as I see he has done it. Hie is about 3 ft..+-, and I took him to the breeder when I went to pick out my new snake cause I wanted him sexed...hes a boy..and the breeder said he was in excellant shape. and an awesome snake. sooo. this has been only about 2 weeks. thanks..

Go to a vet! I had the same thing with my BP. Luckily I was quick enough so it didn't turn out to be a pneumonia. But if I had waited longer it could have become one.
Also rise the temperture and put an onion (cut in pieces) in his cage. Sound weird but it helps!

My breeder has more than 150 of his own snakes, he is the only one in the area that has access to reptile meds. there is only one reptile vet in the area and his knowledge is limited. Steve is doing just fine, hes soaking tonight in his spa.

Just curious....What's the theory behind the onion?
Haven't heard that before, any ideas why that would be suggested?

It's just a common and garden thing. When I was a kid (and I think that many people know this situation, or it's just a very Dutch thing to do ) my mother always put a sliced onion next to my bed when I had a cold. Because it opens your nose and broncial tubes.
So when my BP had a cold the vet suggested that I put an onion in his cage. We had a laugh because it remembered me of my childhood and she does the same thing for her daughter now. But it really worked. My whole room smelled of onions but my snake felt a lot better.
